Annie and I did different things today, each with our own host family. I got to choose and I chose some of my favoutite activities - shoe shopping, horse riding (western style) and hanging out with Janice and Casey.
1 I bought a pair of boots and two pairs of shoes (sorry Tony - I know you don't really mind!!!)
2 We went riding through the desert up above Saguaro Lake. It was absolutely beautiful and serene.
3 We had tea (and wine) on the restaurant balcony above the lake, found some iconic Saguaro Cacti and headed back to Janice and Casey's for peacan pie and a movie, "With Honours".
Crissi and I had a lazy start to our day, it was lovely to just sit and chat about all sorts of things from school to Pinterest! Crissi, Taylor, Riley and I set off shopping about lunchtime. We bumped into Kathy and Janice at the same shop, they headed off horse riding while we stayed shopping before they introduced me to waffle chips and then Sugar Bowl. Sugar Bowl was so cute, pink was the main colour, pink seats, pink lights, pink and white striped wall paper and serviettes and the menu was also pink and white!
After brunch we were going to have a walk around Scottsdale, but shopping won out! On the way home I had my first encounter with a supermarket, it was interesting to see what was the same, the prices and the differences. Overall I think the prices are much cheaper here, especially as it is winter over here, an example is capsicums were about 80 cents, they are never that price in winter in NZ. Many of the types of apples were different. They had ground turkey, a lot of pre-made Mexican food, eg burritos, a great selection of icecream and lollies (candy), Riley chose some for us to try tonight, amd I have also never seen an iced giant cookie before.
After tacos for tea, we had a family games night and tried the different candy, peanut butter and chocolate seemed to feature! M&m pretzels were interesting! Another great day!
