Sedona

The night wasn't kind to Crissi who wasn't well. However, in typical Crissi fashion, she was determined that we should head off the next morning to the Pink Jeep while she stayed and slept it off. Once we were sure she was OK, we rugged up to get to the Pink Jeep Four Wheel Drive Red Rock Tours by 7.45am - Man it was cold (-6.6F) and surprise, surprise we were the only ones there! Mike our tour guide was really good and had blankets available in the open air jeep and we headed off on the broken arrow tour. It was absolutely stunning, words can not capture the beauty of what we saw, well my words anyway. We learnt about the different plant life and the geological nature of the rock formations. The lime stone lines come from the sea bed before movement in the tectonic plates pushed it up. In one of our photos you can see how much the earth has moved splitting the white mark on the rock surface. Where the fault line is there is a line of glass resulting from the friction. Some of the mountain bikers like the challenge of riding the white line. No room for error and no ledge to ride on. Check out the YouTube clip, riding the white line Sedona.
At one stage we went down a pretty steep drop that was like driving down stairs. When we arrived back at the tour centre the other guides were pretty impressed that we had braved the cold at that hour of the morning. So glad we did as shortly after the clouds rolled over.
We managed to get a noon check out which was great. Out for lunch, yummy soup and a wee look around the town while Crissi had a snooze in the car tucked up with hotties, blankets etc.
From there we went to see the Chapel of the Holy Cross - again stunning. Sedona is a very beautiful place. Hopefully some of our pictures will give you at least some idea.
Leaving Sedona on the road to the Grand Canyon via Flagstaff was also picturesque as there was snow everywhere. Arriving at The Grand Motel after Janice's great driving to a big open fire and lovely rooms was a treat. Early to bed for everyone tonight.
One funny thing we have found here. Everyone refers to going to the toilet as going potty regardless of age. It seems very funny to hear grown adults using the phrase or asking one another if anyone needs to go potty!
