Road Trip Day 1

I had written this post but I accidentally deleted it, so I have to re write it!

We started our road trip early and headed off to San Diego. It is very different than travelling in NZ, you can see for miles, the road is very straight and it is easy driving. We saw the desert (Crissi and Janice laughed their desert road as it was so different from ours!), after about 3 hours we stopped at Yuma for lunch at Appleby's. We headed off for a play in the sand, then over the Razorback mountains, before we got to SD the hills were covered in snow, it was so pretty.

new things we have learnt or tried include, cars can turn right on a red light, lazy boy chairs have their handle on the other side of the chair, iced peach tea is yummy, I still head for the drivers side of a car thinking I am going into the passengers side, we had to stop at 2 border patrols, we went on a 16 lane highway which includes a car pooling lane.

We arrived at Ron and Zita's beautiful home to a very warm welcome, we settled in and then headed out for New Years Eve. We had an amazing meal at an Italian restaurant in Gaslamps, downtown in San Diego. What an wonderful night, we had a special menu, a sample of 5 different pasta as an entree, the main and the best tiramasu I have ever tasted, and lots of talking and laughs. We literally rolled out of the restaurant, on the way back home we visited Candy Cane Lane which had the houses with lots of Xmas lights, it was very pretty.

We finished our special night with the traditional countdown with Ron and Zita

Happy New Year to you all from San Diego
